Why Is My Website Not Showing on Google? 7 Reasons and Fixes

By Umar Hayat · Updated 22 October 2026

If your website does not appear on Google, it usually means the page is not indexed yet, or Google does not see a reason to show it. Here is how to find out which.

1. Check if the page is indexed

Search site:yourwebsite.com in Google. If nothing appears, the site is not indexed. Use the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console for the exact status.

2. The site is new

New sites can wait days or weeks. Verify the site in Search Console, submit your sitemap.xml and use Request Indexing for the homepage.

3. A noindex tag or robots.txt block

Make sure pages do not contain noindex and that robots.txt does not block them.

4. Thin or copied content

Very short pages and copied text are often skipped. Write original pages that answer one clear question each, with at least a few hundred words.

5. No links to the site

Google finds pages by following links. Share your link on your other sites, social profiles and directories so crawlers can reach it.

6. Technical problems

Slow pages, errors and broken mobile layouts reduce crawling. Run a free speed and SEO check to catch them.

7. Be patient and keep improving

Add useful pages regularly and check the Pages report in Search Console each week.
